Why Owning a Dog Doesn’t Have to Be Stressful: Tips from a 40-Year Breeder

Welcome to everyone joining the Bark and Beyond blog! My primary goal here is to provide regular, useful information on dog care, training, and tips that make your pet journey truly enjoyable.

Owning a pet, in my opinion, has become a nightmare for so many, and it just doesn’t need to be. The pressure on new and vulnerable owners to do "only the best" for their fur babies has turned what should be a joyful experience into a stressful one. Many dog owners feel they’re constantly falling short, and that’s something I want to help change.

Through this blog, I aim to dispel some of the hype surrounding pet ownership and assist you in enjoying your dog without feeling pressured to buy all sorts of expensive foods, supplements, or fashion items. Instead, I’ll focus on what truly matters—keeping your dog happy, healthy, and well-behaved.

I invite you to join me on this journey. Your comments are always welcome and encouraged. No matter which breed you have, the information shared here will be relevant and helpful. I certainly have my opinions, and while some may not agree, I’m here to share what I’ve learned over the years. Let’s keep it friendly—everyone’s opinion is valuable, and I’m happy to listen to what you have to say, as long as it’s respectful.

As for me, I’m a breeder with 40 years of experience. I’ve shown dogs, groomed them (sometimes with quirky results), and loved every moment of it. I’m passionate about happy, healthy dogs, and if I can help someone have a better experience with their pup, I’ll consider this blog a success.

From time to time, I may promote a product, but rest assured, I will only endorse items that I personally use and believe are worth the money.

I live in a small country town in the land down under, where most people own a dog and enjoy taking them for walks, visiting dog parks, and following the town’s by-laws.
